All students who wish to receive financial assistance for the 2019 TCNJ Winter Session must complete the 2019 TCNJ Winter Session Financial Aid Application (available October 16th, 2018 by following the steps below) in addition to having filed the 2018-2019 FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA.
The priority deadline to complete the winter application is December 7th, 2018. We cannot guarantee that your financial aid will be processed by the time your bill is due for applications received after this date.
Limited financial assistance is available for students attending Winter Session at TCNJ. This assistance will be based on remaining eligibility from the 2018 Fall Semester.
For most types of assistance, including student loans, you must be enrolled at least half-time. Half-time course-load total is determined by combining the Fall semester with the Winter session units/credits.
For Winter course work students must meet satisfactory academic progress as defined in the “TCNJ Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for Financial Aid Eligibility.”
Financial Assistance Information and Application
Read the following carefully, then complete and submit the Winter application. By submitting the application, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the information below. Print out this information sheet and retain it for your records.
December 7th, 2018 is the priority deadline date to apply for Winter Financial Aid at TCNJ.
Matriculated Students must have filed the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
All documentation necessary to complete your application must be completed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Assistance by December 7th, 2018.
In order to be eligible for any form of Winter Term assistance, you must be:
Meet satisfactory academic progress as defined in the “TCNJ Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for Financial Aid Eligibility.”
Admitted and matriculated in a degree or teaching certificate program at TCNJ.
Provide all requested documentation.
Students who are less than half-time*, non-matriculated and/or visiting students are not eligible for federal grants or loans but may apply for a private loan through Wells Fargo and Sallie Mae. Credit Hours and Enrollment Status
- Full-time = 3 units enrollment (Undergrad) 9 credit hours enrollment (Graduate)
- Three-quarter Time = 2.25 units enrollment (Undergrad)
- Half-time = 1.5 units enrollment (Undergrad) 5 credit hours enrollment (Graduate)
These minimum hours of enrollment may be achieved by students combining hours from Fall and Winter.
Access to Financial Assistance Funds
No aid will be disbursed until Winter Session classes begin.

Federal Direct Loan Program: Only students with remaining fall semester eligibility will be able to borrow during the Winter Session. The Office of Student Financial Assistance will inform you if you have any remaining eligibility.

Paying The Bill
You may use your “Award Notification of Eligibility” for deferment of charges with the Office of Student Accounts. Your student account will not be credited with aid from the Federal Direct Loan Program until all documents have been completed properly, loan approval has been secured, and expected enrollment status is met. Satisfactory Academic Progress
You are reminded that students failing to meet the “Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy Standards for Financial Aid Eligibility” are not eligible to receive Winter Session assistance. Please Read the Following Statement Carefully:
Please be aware that you must be ENROLLED for at least 1.5 units (Undergrad) or 5 credit hours (Graduate) during Fall and Winter in order for TCNJ to disburse your financial assistance.
This requirement mirrors the semester requirement that a student be ENROLLED for at least half-time status in order to be eligible to receive aid. Students who fail to ENROLL for the minimum required units/hours will have their awards canceled and will become responsible for any outstanding charges.

Please follow the following steps in order to complete the Winter application:
- Login to your PAWS Account.
- Select “Main Menu”.
- Select “Student Self Service”.
- Select “Campus Finances”.
- Select “Winter/Summer Fin Aid App”.
- Complete the application.
